I have been asked:
-Why are you running for Treasurer?
I have worked with Chesterfield County Government since May 2013 and am currently Deputy Treasurer/Fiscal Manager, managing the accounting department of the Treasurer's Office and handling the County's investment portfolio. When Carey Adams, the current Treasurer and my boss, announced he would not seek re-election, I saw the opportunity to step up to lead this wonderful team forward to achieve the goals we have set - that of fiscal integrity and world class customer service. As a CPA, I understand the need for integrity in business and ethics throughout life. I hope to continue Carey Adams and Richard Cordle's legacy, which truly began with Mary Arline McGuire, the County's first female elected official.
-What is a Fiscal Manager?
A Fiscal Manager manages the accounting department in the Treasurer's Office. This means managing the day to day operations of cash and investment portfolio for the County. Managing of the investment portfolio includes placing buy and sell orders, in accordance with County policy, to maximize earnings while maintaining adequate cash flows for the County departments. Additionally, the Fiscal Manager provides assistance with several annual auditors, both internal and external.
